- The site says UP but it won't load for me. Why?
- The problem is probably on your side: your internet connection, Wi-Fi, DNS settings, a browser extension, or a regional/network block. Try another network (for example mobile data), clear your browser cache, or restart your router.
- What do I type in?
- Just the website name, like example.com. You can also paste a full address such as https://www.example.com/page – we'll work out the rest.
- Why is a site that requires a login shown as UP?
- Because its server answered us. Responses like “sign-in required” (401), “forbidden” (403) or “too many requests” (429) all mean the website is online.
- Where are the checks run from?
- From our servers, not from your browser. That gives an independent second opinion on whether the website is reachable.
- Are the live checks on the homepage real?
- Yes. Every row in “Websites Being Checked Now” is a real check our system just ran against a public website. They are automated system checks, not checks made by visitors.
- Can I check addresses on my own network, like 192.168.1.1?
- No. For security we only check public websites on the internet. Private, local and internal addresses cannot be checked.
- Is there a limit to how many checks I can run?
- Normal use is never a problem. To keep the service fast for everyone, very rapid repeated checks are briefly slowed down.
